Yorkshire Wildlife Park wanted a permanent footpath solution to upgrade the existing loose earth/subsoil footpaths that were in place.
In keeping with the wildlife/rural theme of the park the client didn’t want tarmac, but something more informal and fitting to the parks outdoor settings.
Works needed to be completed whilst the park was open and operational, adding additional logistical challenges to the job.
NMC Surfacing was brought in to trim existing surface to create new levels and to surface dress the existing footpath. Through careful planning and communication, we were able to handle the task of laying hot tar whilst working in close proximity to the park’s animals and visitors safely and efficiently.
The project took NMC Surfacing 2 weeks and was completed on time and on budget. We used double dress layers of hot K170 bitumen emulsion followed by 6mm Neadingworth Hanson’s gold gravel or a Lafarge Aggregate.
