Our client had several large areas of concrete carriageway that had fallen into disrepair. Repairs were to be carried out with minimal disruption to prevent any interruption of production.

Total Site Area
NMC were employed to carry out repairs to 250m2 of concrete at a busy production factory. The works consisted of replacing several areas of concrete on the circulation route around the factory that had become cracked and broken. It was essential that deliveries were not disrupted and that access was maintained for HGVs at all times.
As this was a live site with continual HGV movements, it was a requirement to have traffic management onsite at all times, using barriers and traffic marshals to ensure the safety of the client’s workforce. Prior to the concrete being poured, each area was excavated to a depth of 500mm, removing 250mm of subbase and 250mm of concrete. These areas were then prepared to receive the concrete with 250mm of MOT Type 1 compacted in layers. Dowels were drilled into the adjacent slabs for support at 400mm centres and two layers of A393 reinforcement steel mesh installed. During the works, it was necessary to recover an interceptor using 150mm cover slabs, re-align and level manholes lids, and replace 24 metres of Charcon Safeticurbs.
