clifton moor retail park, york
Our client had a busy retail park which required car park restoration due to failings down to age. The complete car park needed to be resurfaced with minimal disruption to both the retailers and the public as the site would remain open during the work.
Project Key Stats
Total Site Area
NMC Surfacing were employed to plane out and resurface the complete 22,000m² of the car park and reline the 1,036 parking bays that support Clifton Moor Retail Park, home to businesses such as Tesco, Boots and Costa Coffee. The work was to be carried out within a three-week period leading up to Christmas it was essential we were able to keep the site open but to also ensure as many car parking spaces remained free during store opening hours.
Due to the nature of the site Traffic Management was essential to ensure the safety of both the public and our operatives. The site was split into eight phases to ensure maximum operation efficiency with minimal disruption. Each phase of the project required the extensive use of Heras fencing and separated the site into section as seen in the coloured image opposite. The final phase included the resurfacing of the entrance road and required the use of two-way traffic lights.
Prior to the work commencing a phasing plan was agreed with our client, each phase consisted of the area planed out, replaced with an SMA and relined. As each phase was completed the site was swept, made safe and the next section of car park was closed overnight, reopening the newly laid car park for customers. Completed on time and to the pre planned schedule the client was thrilled with the results.
