Create positive drainage by installing the necessary pipework, gullies and manholes, leaving provision to extend the drainage system if required in the future. All work was to be carried out within a three week period.
NMC erected two way lights with lighting and guarding to manage traffic. Water filled barriers were used to create safe environment for the workforce.
To create a positive drainage, it was necessary to track and install a pipe from an existing manhole located adjacent to the site, to the point of the access road where the new gully run would begin. Once this had been completed it allowed us to construct the first manhole chamber. A mini digger was used to excavate trenches on either side of the manhole and a plastic twin wall piping was installed to create gullies. A depth of 100mm was left for the reinstatement of the asphalt, and this was all hand-laid.
