Coloured Macadams

Coloured macadams are available in two basic types. The cheaper option is a normal natural aggregate coated with a coloured binder. Over a period of years the binder wears to expose the natural colour of the aggregate and causes the surface to fade. The second option is a red or green quartzite aggregate with coloured binder, which keeps its colour for much longer. Coloured macadams are being used more frequently in civic applications as a practical alternative to block paving.
